False labor or early labor?

I'm posting from Scott's iPad so please excuse the inevitable typos.... (ahhh! And where have all my paragraphs gone? Sorry, this is going to be a pain to read!) So, here's how my day has gone. I woke up at 5am with a surge (the hypnobirthing word for contraction)that had me rocking my pelvis. Now having practice surges is not new to me at all. I've been having them for months and months. But this one got my attention. So I got up, showered, and headed to the office to try to get some important stuff done. It's normal for me to feel the Braxton's more in the evening - about 3-4 per hour. But usually they've tapered off quite a bit in the morning. Not the case today. So I gave my IM a heads up that something may be gearing up. The Peri wanted me to leave within the hour and come into the city. But he had the midwife call and she wasn't as concerned. She called me again in 2 hours (12:30) and said it still didn't sound like the real thing but why don't I come on in and she'd check me at 5:30pm. So Scott, who was home with the kids today, scrambled around to get the van loaded and ready to go. My IP's quickly made arrangements for a different furnished apartment, since the other wasn't available until 12/28. I didn't say anything but i was a bit sad because my kid's Christmas was going to get all messed up. Then L texts me to let me know they found a place and T was there right now putting in a Christmas tree. That brought me to tears. I'm so lucky to have such thoughtful and considerate IP's! By the time we head to the city (2:30), the surges were coming every 10min or so. They were about 5-7 min when we got to SF. But there was no pain just tightness. I could tell they weren't doing much. So we met L and the nanny at the apartment. They got us settled in then L & I went to UCSF. They asked me to give a urine sample.... but I couldn't. At least not much. TMI but my pee samples are usually very light colored because I drink so much water. Today it was dark, dark yellow... Dehydration. The nurse brought me a giant cup of "juice". When Sharon, my midwife handed it to me I was shocked. This "juice" was neon orange! I took a sip but it was like orange flavored soda. I couldn't do it. I told them I'd really prefer something that didn't have artificial colors or high fructose corn syrup. The nurse mocked me a bit for being too "crunchy" but I didn't care. So I guzzled about 72 oz of water and a 10oz or so Superfood drink that my IM got for me. While I was doing that they hooked me up to the monitors. The baby was completely fine. Not even lethargic which sometimes happens with dehydration. I was still having surges not dilating at all. I gave another pee sample and it came back much better - still not great, but there was great improvement. So I'm now back at the apartment with strict orders to drink a ton of water. We'll see if the surges go back to normal or if things continue to progress. I'm still feeling surges (some of them fairly strong) but theyve spaced out again.I had early labor with both of my kids for about a day and a half before things got serious. So we'll see what tomorrow brings.
