5 (or 4!) weeks to go....

Goodness.... my last appointment was almost a week ago already and I'm just now getting around to this.  Bad blogger! Bad!

Let's see.... first we saw a new midwife (so far we've seen one midwife who mentioned induction right off the bat and one high-risk OB who was just so blah... no warm and cozy feelings from either of those ladies). This new midwife is AMAZING! My IM and I felt instantly at ease and comfortable with her. She was so genuine and caring. It really was a perfect fit Everything went well with the appointment. BP was still good and low. I'm up 20 lbs now.... I was really hoping to keep my weight gain to 20 but I'm still a long way from the 35 I gained the last 2 times!

Then we saw the peri for a scan. Everything is good. Baby is measuring about 6lbs already! And the computer model revised due date has become 12/30 (even though 1/7 is still the official date). The dr is guessing he'll be around 8lbs and about a week early. That's what I'm feeling too. I think I'll deliver right around the very end of December (12/30 - 1/2). It's kind of cutting it close because I need to work through the 27th so we're not going to the city until the 28th. But with both of my kids I had early labor for 1.5-2 days before the real thing kicked in. We're hoping that I get that kind of warning this time too!  Oh, and the peri is going to make sure that he is the peri on call when we go into labor.  I think he really wants to be there!  And he's even going to talk to the midwife that we liked so much and see if he can "encourage" her to make herself available to come in for the delivery even if it's not a day or time that she's usually covering L&D.  It's good to be treated like royalty!

After the peri appointment I was supposed to meet with 2 different doulas, one right after the other.  I was really looking forward to meeting the first one - Desiree.  Unfortunately she was called off to attend a birth so she couldn't make it.  I met with the other one, but I just wasn't feeling it.  She was really nice, but there was no connection there.  I didn't really see much up side to having her at the birth.  But I'm going back to the city tomorrow to meet with Desiree.  Fingers crossed that we click as well in person as we did on the phone!

So, the birth plan is done, typed, and printed.  I made my IM cry by suggesting we put in there that she is to "catch"/receive the baby.  She says she may chicken out but we'll just wait and see.  I've also got my hospital bag packed and stowed in my car.  We've got friends lined up to feed the chickens, the cat, and water plants.  Christmas shopping is 94% done.  Just need 2 more things and then I'll get everything sorted and wrapped.  About the only thing left to do is get through the next 3 weeks at work!
